My first association with Wheatens was as a child in the fifties when my mother (born

My uncle had always a
Wheaten bred by Mrs. Maureen Holmes. Of one dog I can still remember the name : Holmenocks Hannover. It was then that I fell in love with the breed.
Later when I got the
opportunity to have a dog of my own in 1976, when I started to work part-time
as a Remedial Teacher, I got Mrs. Beute-Faber's
address through my uncle, who had asked Mrs Holmes.
Mrs. Beute-Faber
and her husband were the ones who really (re)started the breed in the
That year (1976) the Beute-Faber's initiated the founding of the Dutch S.C.W.T.
Club, of which amongst others, we are founder members. In fact my husband
(William) became the first Chairman (1976 - 1985). I acted as committee member
and Secretary from 1988 to 1991.

Na Boinne", meaning stronghold or fort at the

I bred my first litter in
1981 (Cunla * Geimread).
From the second litter ( 1983) I kept a bitch "Bairbre Banbha", daughter of
Cunla and Ch. Newkilber the

My goal is to breed Wheatens with good health and temperament and as closely as
possible complying with the original Irish type, i.e. conform
the Irish Standard which is drawn up by the Irish Softcoated
Wheaten Terrier Club of Ireland, approved by the Irish Kennel Club and recognised by the F.C.I. and therefore rules in most parts

After the Dutch S.C.W.T.
Club started a competition for "Top Wheaten of the Year" in 1988, 5
times out of 7, we won this title with 5 different Brugh
Na Boinne Wheatens. Several
Wheatens were BIS at both Club matches and Ch. Club
matches.
As I have limited space,
arrangements are made with people to keep dogs for me. At present I own 4 Wheatens ( 1 dog and 3 bitches) at
home and owns or co-own several others, among which are imports from
More and more I became
involved in the promotion of the original Irish Wheaten, both at home and
abroad. In 1978 we became members of the International (Irish) Softcoated Wheaten Terrier Club of Ireland. In 1991 I
became Vice-President for The Netherlands and since 1994 I am President of the
Irish S.C.W.T. Club (in June 1993 the name of the Club was changed in Irish
S.C.W.T.).
In 1992 we helped Mrs.
Maureen Holmes to publish her new book "The Softcoated
Wheaten Terrier". Unfortunately Mrs. Maureen Holmes died on May 96 leaving
a gap that will be difficult to fill. Mrs. Maureen Holmes and myself were working on an updated version of the book as
well as on a video in which she (Mrs. Holmes) explains the Standard of the
Irish S.C.W.T. The video has already been on display during special occasions
(in its draft form) at a number of Wheaten Symposia and Congresses a.o. the World Congress of Kennel Clubs in Dublin (July
1995) and the Wheaten Experience in Great Britain (September 1995).
Both the up-dated book and
the video will be published in the near future.
In May '95 I passed my exam
(with the Dutch Kennel Club) and became a CC Judge for Wheatens
Delft, The Netherlands (Europe) 5 January 1997.
